Another Volcanic Eruption

Yesterday we were told that the volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajokull Glacier had come to and end. Not so fast, because today, another eruption started, now under the the glacier's ice cap!

If you like volcanoes, anyway. Our old friend Eyjafjallajökull, who we thought was stopping, is in fact not stopping. At all. News have been coming out of another eruption this morning following a large earthquake swarm overnight, this time underneath the Eyjafjallajökull glacier itself, most likely in the volcano's central caldera (crater). The caldera seems to be very big. “The eruption in Eyjafjallajökull is many times larger than the eruption in Fimmvörduháls,” says Vídir Reynisson, who manages the Icelandic Civil Protection Department.

The hotel is now offering helicopter tours to the volcanic area fom Hotel Ranga. This is guaranteed a trip of a lifetime!
